Trick-or-Trunk

Batman and Superwoman prepare for battle...
This was our first year participating in a Trick-or-Trunk, and I could not be happier that we did.

It was at J & Em's school so J had been talking about it for weeks. In case your not familiar with the concept it is a chance for kids to trick-or-treat by going car to car. Parents park their car, decorate their trunk (some really go all out) and then pass out candy. It is great for a small community, like their school.
My mom had the amazing idea to make our trunk into the Batcave.

Aside from the extreme excitement that Jackson had to be Batman and seeing Emerson's adorableness, the best part of the night was watching J interact with the first real friend that he has made all on his own. Jackson talks about this boy all the time. They great each other happily every day at school, they like similar things, play outside together, and I am told are completely inseparable at school. Jackson has several other great friends, this boy though was not introduced to him by me or an arranged play date. This friend Jackson was drawn to on his own in a mix of many other classmates. All you want is for your kid to be happy and comfortable, well this friendship is exactly what I hope J will always find.

From the second we arrived in the parking lot of the school all J wanted to do was go look for him. Those two then made several laps around the parking lot before the event was over.
Little Emmer was excited at the very beginning and then overwhelmed quickly. If I set her down to try and go up to a car she got very scared and gripped on tight to me. She was handed a bag of pretzels at one of the first trunks we went too. She gripped that bag tight for the longest time. About 40 minutes in she started to warm up and realized she could get more items in her pumpkin. She held it like a purse and lit up with a huge smile when she knew their were items in it.
She tried to follow J and his friend for a couple cars at the end. The first one she put back the pretzels she was holding to grab a new candy. The second attempt she walked a step up smiled and turned the other direction with her pumpkin. For those last 10-15 minutes she had a blast walking around.

J and his dad sorted his candy later in the evening to close the night. He had just a great time being Batman and couldn't wait to do it all again the next day!
