Her little arms go up.
Her big eyes look at you.
Watching a child throw their hand up in the air when you ask them how big is cute simply to watch. When you experience your little do it after teaching her, you just melt.
Emerson first did it a couple weeks before one. She watched, smiled, waited. Then when you said it again she looked unsure but then burst her hands into the air with confidence. She observes your reaction and then grins big with your excitement.
The times after, she seems to raise her hands faster. She glances at you, smiles a little, but waits in anticipation for what is next.
Emerson usually always selects super heroes or pirates when given the option. When a Superman book came home from the library one day though I saw a new level of infatuation.
I don't recall if the board book about Superman was intended for her or Jackson, but either way as soon as Em saw it she got excited.
One day I went to read it to her and as soon as I opened a page she shot her arms out to the side. I read the page and said "Superman" and she did it again. She turned the page and as soon as she saw him again she pointed, looked at me, then bam...her arms flew out to the side like Superman.
I think her reading with Grandpa contributed to this, I can't take the credit. She completely took me off guard with her interest in the hero on the page. to the level of arm motions and excited pointing.
She still flips through that book, or Batman ones now too, and really looks for Superman, studying him with enthusiasm.
